A few days ago, wifey & I were thinking Pizza. However since we have pizza frequently I suggested Sushi. There was new place that we had been wanting to try out; Hiro in North Miami Beach. Every time we go to the beach we pass by there wondering if they're any good. So we finally tried it. And, now we Know! It was around 6:00pm when we were seated. It was not very busy at the time, so we just wanted to eat & leave before it got really busy; which it did. We first ordered 2 California rolls as appetizers & a beer. The waitress came back shortly after to take our order. She had not brought our CA Rolls yet. We ordered something simple; Fried rice with chicken, and Saut?ed vegetables to share. So we waited and waited, and finally, contrary to what we expected, the whole order was delivered at once; around 6:45. Geez.. We could have been munching on California rolls while waiting for them to make rice... So we ate, we were starved. As for the food, the rice had a slightly burnt smell to it and it was not cooked well at all; it was very greasy looking and all stuck together. Wow! How difficult is it for an Asian kitchen to make fried rice? The Saut?ed vegetables were not bad, but it was a very small portion. So, all & all, it was not a good experience. It took forever to get our food - other people that came in after us got their food right away. I don't think that our waitress was overwhelmed, but she surely was not on top of it as it related to our order. When she delivered our food, she didn't even bring us a plate to share. She told us to us to use the small saucer that held the small bowl to put soy sauce in for the rolls. Geez! I felt like I was having an Asian dinner at Walmart. The food itself was way below expectation, even the California rolls were very skimpy -Hell, it's just rice & veggies- and the main dish -the rice- SUCKED. So, let's consider Hiro OFF of our bucket list. Been there, done that, Will NEVER do that again.
