What are your terms?

G Equestrian Business: The town of Wellington is an upscale equestrian-based community in Palm Beach County, Florida. From the annual Horse show to its beautiful and spacious horse farms, the area has established itself as one of the country’s most exceptional horse communities, one that will see $100 to $200 million sunk into the development of its existing horse show grounds, over the next three to five years. For more than twenty years, I have worked within the “Show Jumping” category of the horse industry, establishing a name amongst the industry’s elite players. For the last ten years, I has invested my own finances and developed a thriving, wellrespected business, training and developing horses for owners with exceptional returns. Over the course of three to six months, a raw animal can be transformed into a prized possession, and in the process increase the horses’ value by 50 to 100 percent for its owner. I am able to accomplish this due to the innate ability to see the potential in the horses acquired for development and training.

Currently, five to twelve horses are developed and sold annually. The goal is to provide Griffon Gate Farms with the necessary resources to expand the business, ultimately increasing the volume of sales and profitability. A horse purchased for $75,000 can be trained and turned out for sale three to six months later for a minimum of $150,000.

Summary:
This is a growing business entity looking for working capital to expand the inventory. To date, the orders placed with the farm far exceed the current inventory. Griffon Gate Farm needs the use of $500,000 to $1,000,000.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to call me at any time.

Bits & Pieces!
the following bit & pieces are what people are saying. Some of it comes from emails while some if it comes from Bulletin Boards

eMail:
Hi there, My name is MR. and Heather ripped me and a contact of mine off...sold a horse never paid for it and still owes the owner 8k. I was supposed to make a 15 percent commission on the sale since I gave ger the horse to market and sell in WPB since I had just blown a disc in my back. Now the man that sent me the horse hasnt been paid and I know I never will, and the man hates me and will not do business with me ever again. The man she still owes is A G of ......

You might contact him and see if he has gotten anywhere with it.
Best of luck to you!!
MR

Well, this horse was actually sellable and she did sell him, just never paid AG fully or me!
I got her number from a friend...called her and told her I had hurt my back and couldnt ride. AG had just sent me the nicest horse I had ever had in my barn, and I would like to sell it for him and make some money. It was going to be four months before I could ride, and she was going to be in Wellington. Horse was denifitely nice enough to sell down there. I got the telephone runaround for weeks, and then she sold him to someone but I didnt know it.....and she stopped answering her phone.

In fact AG is who told me it was sold. Then every once in a while she would call and leave messages about how my commission was coming soon....and how of the stuff I had heard was all some man's fault who had it out for her. At that point I just quit listening and figured AG hated me for hooking him up with her (rightfully so) and that I would never see Heather or a dime again.

I never had her email address, only cellphone conversations...but boy can she tell a whale of a story! The horse was always "getting vetted next week"...for about 12 weeks!

eMail:
We definitely had an interesting experience with Heather Hargett this past fall when she was supposedly buying several expensive horses from us, strung us along forever, eventually vetted the horses, then disappeared and never even paid the vets for the pre-purchase exams!
DC

eMail:
I just spoke to her at 561-***-****. She rented heather a barn in 2005 for $30,000 for the season, apt etc and heather continually bounced checks and ultimately skipped out on $4000, left the apt a mess and never cleaned the apt, stalls or manure pile.

eMail:
To whom it may concern. My 26 year old neice was conned by Hargett. She had to go to Chicago to track her horse down. She then had to secure it at a barn that had 24 hour surveillance for fear that this women would kill her horse. From what I understand this women has conned a group in NC as well and I thought that they were presuing charges. This will be very interesting how this plays out.I will continue to check your site.

eMail:
just read the article about heather hargett. I have a very personal and criminal account of her "horse theft" in 2005. Will testify with records, facts, witnesses and police records.

This email was followed by a phone conversation with the attorney. Oh, what an interesting story, funny too! more details to come

eMail:
Yes, I'd be willing to testify if it will do any good. My circumstances are somewhat different from the others but similar I guess.

When Heather wanted to buy Coco Loco from Todd and was gathering financial support, she was approaching Casey Millis, Jerry Stevenson, Jerry's accountant (Milton, I think) and perhaps her uncle, William Hargett. I believe the total price was 60K. She called me on the cell in a panic saying that she didn't think she'd get the money soon enough and wasn't sure if all parties were in on the deal. She was highly concerned that the horse would get sold out from under her. (in retrospect this seems grossly dramatic; live and learn). At that time we were very close, communicating daily or more often, talking "horse' as well as mother/daughter/girlfriend stuff. When she was so distraught I caved. Sam and I had some money in mutual funds that was being killed by the market, so I decided to cash it in and get in on the horse deal.

I had seen a tape of the grey horse and he looked good with Todd on him etc. I truly believed I would have a small share of the gelding and get a small share when he was sold. Jerry and Casey knew I put money into the pot and how much. Then as time went by and Coco did not sell and Jerry felt compelled to pull out all together, it was discovered that I was never on the paperwork! This I have to take at Casey's and Jerry's words (and I no reason to doubt them). But Heather just took my money and never applied to Coco Loco. I was never a partial, not even a nano owner; Heather just took my money under false pretenses, in my opinion.

She was well aware of our financial circumstances and that 5k was a lot to us. Back then she even indicated she would pay me back from some other horse deal if I needed by money before Coco sold. While I know well that the horse business is risky, I felt that since this one wasn't insanely high compared to many horses and that doing business with people I knew, I might not make money, but I'd get my original investment back. And I wanted to help Heather. This had way more to do with helping a friend than a big money making scheme for me. It saddens me that she no regrets about this.

So, if that is useful, I'll tell anyone, as it is the truth – nothing more nothing less.
Annie

eMail:
I have been reading about your dilemma with the scammer piece of sh!t Heather on the WEF board. I was somewhat familiar with the story prior to this thread through a client of mine, so saying that I am truly sorry for your situation doesn't even begin to say it! I do a majority of my real estate business in the equestrian area, so I have run into her, and actually have my story, certainly nothing like yours. I was placing my upcoming SIDELINES classified ads the other day, and mentioned your situation to my rep and suggested that Samantha Charles, the Owner & Editor of SIDELINES, do a story on Heather. Sue, my rep, said that she would pass this on to Samantha, but I thought maybe the suggestion should also come from the "horse's mouth", meaning you. Therefore, I thought I would give you Samantha's email address should you decide to pursue my suggestion. It is, samanthac@sidelinesnews.com . Good luck to you, I sincerely hope that you get at least some of your money back, but more than anything, I hope and pray justice prevails and she is prevented from hurting anyone else.

Here are comments about Heather Hargett?Williams found on Bulleting Boards

In from the news wire!

HEATHER HARGETT of Jacksonville, NC has failed to settle her indebtedness in connection with the Kentucky Spring Horse Show held May 11-15, 2005. HEATHER HARGETT, and horses, DUVAL, TRISTAN, and DREAMBOAT, are therefore automatically barred pursuant to Chapter 15, GR1508, from participating in any Recognized competition until further notice.

Heather's uncle is the current city manager of Pompano Beach. William Hargett Jr. has lost money in connection with horse investments involving Heather Hargett/Williams

Heather, whatever her name is this week, is the lowest form of life ever to slither across the road. Shoshana is the nicest, most honest person I have EVER met, and unfortunately was taken just like the rest of us. Shoshana is in no way involved with this crook! If anyone has the misfortune of meeting Heather, run for the hills!

heather is an absolute pig and i hope she goes to jail for a long time. she also takes horrible care of her horses i personally witnessed it and she also never paid/pays her barn help. i found one of her grooms a job bc i saw how hard he worked and he never got a dime not even for food. i also personally know a person who rented her an apartment and it was filled with og shit an dirtier than ever. shes GROSS!!!!!!!

sorry for the typo, it was filled with dog shit and the owner was shocked bc she was there maybe one month and he said it was dirtier than it ever had been after a renter had been in there. her horses practically live out and that's fine i mean turnout is good for certain but half the time they didnt see the inside of a stall!!!the amazing thing is she is still posting on craigslist looking for investors its under financial and it says "looking for angel/investor" she needs more than an angel at this point!!!!she is a fat pig and i hope she goes away she gives all horse people a good name hell she gives white trash a bad name!!! i was at a farm next to where she rented and witnessed much of this and it's ALL true!!!

obviously letting the world know what is happening may save some other poor suspecting individual this lady had investors with $260,000 and she scammed them all how many professionals out there would love that kind of money to do a legitimate business It is NOT slander when it is true!!

Ask the people holding the bounced checks like local vets, feed stores, blacksmiths and other hard working professionals that she stole products and time only to bounce checks

if you read the depositions you will learn she wanted to buy him out over three years with no interest and she had NO money which means she would have had the horses and run out of town with the horses and chase her for the money I can buy alot by signing my name when I knew I would never pay....

she is driving a truck that she never paid for she took her old partner's horse and leased it for $30,000 for a year and kept the money and still sent him bills as if she still had it she is clever guys,,,,,,read closer

This is Shoshana's mom and I am writing on Shoshana's behalf regarding this discussion on the Wellington Scammer. Shoshana has been advised by her attorney not to post any comments at this time. We have been scammed by Heather too. She puts on all of this Southern charm and then stabs the well-meaning person in the back.

Shoshana met Heather about 2 years ago and since that time, Heather has cost me a lot of money, headaches, and heartache for my daughter. They went to a horse show in PA and shared the expense of a hotel room. Shoshana charged the room to her account and left a few days before Heather. Heather then reimbursed Shoshana for her share of the expenses, but the check bounced. Also, Heather's credit card would not work to pay the balance for her extra days, and the management decided to use Shoshana's card for the balance. We have never been repaid with a valid check for this extra expense.

As a "friend", during the quiet part of the summer, Shoshana let Heather stay at our house. Heather kept saying that she would pay some rent, but we have never seen any money. Hence, Heather used our electricity, our water, and our extra computer. At least she dog sat when Shoshana went out of town.

Heather also had the chutzpah to use our address as her own and also listing it as her legal address, without our permission. She told customers that our address was her place! For her horses, she was charged stall rent. Unfortunately for us, those checks bounced too. At least she paid for her own feed, bedding, etc.

On a personal note, Heather has never said thank you to me or my husband for allowing her to stay in our house. Nor has she thanked us when we included her at dinner times. I resent the emotional strain that this whole situation has placed on our family, especially Shoshana. At this point, Heather has cost us money and we just want her out of our lives.

I have unfortunately known heather for a long time. I know MANY people that she owes money from years ago and has either never made a payment, continuously bounced checks, or paid some money to but never finished paying. In each and every case the owners of the horses, who I also know and know are good, honest people, paid their monthly bills to heather for things like board/stall rental, shoeing, vets bills, etc...and naturally expected for the bills to be paid to the providers of the services.

They have since realized that many of the service providers were never paid, or never finished being paid. What did she do with all the money she was given to pay bills for those horses???!!! The MOST IMPORTANT issue here is that heather has a history of this kind of behavior, and if nothing else comes of this other than people in the horse community being aware of the threat that is heather hargett/williams, and making a point to stay far away from her, than I say YOU GO MARC BUCK!!!!

I have been wondering the same thing, where did all this money go? She doesn't live an extravagant lifestyle so where is it, unless she has it put away someplace. By the way, there is no Jacob Williams; she doesn't have a husband or boyfriend that too is a lie.

Mr. NC.
I guess its my turn.Yes she did steal a $30,000 lease payment, she also defaulted in a lease on a vehicle to the tune of $20,000plus.I paid every bill she sent me until I asked her to bring my horses home to me,she refused.I honored the lease & retrieved that horse.I sent the repo man after the other one.Ipursued her criminally with no success as she conveniently stayed clear of NC,to pursue her in civil court would only have increased my expense.I commend you Marc for staying after her. And Nikki I'll be glad to give you a list of corroborating individuals to validate the truth.I only wanted to give the girl a chance no one else would & she took supreme advantage as she has of the rest of you

IF you've never had a dealing with her, than you really can not understand the magnitude of the damage she can cause. She has caused so much harm, stress, torment and also monetary loss. She has no remorse. She can steal money from her closest friends and relatives with absolutely no remorse whatsoever. No, I'm not a beauty queen and probably far from a saint. However, I'm all in favor of her getting the book thrown at her. She's pure evil.

Idendity being kept seceret for my own reasons.. Thanks for understanding:)
(All of this straight from the horses mouth! (heather)
If you know her, you know all this is the truth!!

She tells everyone she's married and that her husband has set her up with the perfect life, while he travels alot for work. EVERYONE really thought she was married to this great guy who totally took care of all her wants, well she enlightened me that if everyone thought she was married to someone who wasn't into horses but wanted her to be a happy wife, no one would question her rich lifestyle. Even the couple that came and rode for her each day didn't know her lies. (Andrew and Jenny) Nor did Jennifer her "Sales Person".

She does owe the vet big money, I have a connection in the office over there and they told me the bill is around $10,000.00. Heather was dating/sleeping with her farrier at one time, didn't work out as a couple, now their just friends, thats why he keeps shoeing her horses!! He takes payment out in trade with her. He's desperate obviously!! EWWWWWWWW!!!

She has slept her way through different men to get the investment money from them, then ends up "screwing" them in the end by not following through on her promises to sell quickly and make them a big return. She was doing the MARRIED NC man, she got the truc out of him, some money and then they had their falling out, (because she started seeing another guy), taking his money, NC found out what was really going on, that he's been just a money source for her , and was pissed, so he went after her for truck, and the money he gave her..She did do some jail time thanks to him!!!

She would talk a good story to get investors to even come see the farm that wasn't even hers, then as soon as she had them convinced they would make big money, or got them in bed, they would stupidly wire her money for the purchases. She would talk with them long enough to schmooze them into meeting in person, go have a few drinks with them, so on and so on... and the rest is history as they say..

I myself, and a few good friends that I told about her quick way of turning over a big proffit, almost made the "investment mistake". I couldn't come through with my end of the investment money. My friends were a little nervous about it, not knowing anything about horses, they wanted to wait until she sold 1 or 2 of the current inventory, which was "guaranteed" to happen by November last year, (she still had them in February 2007) Thankfully after all of this has come out, I have to thank God, that it never materialized.

Don't bother asking how I know her or any of this, I just do, Unfortunately I had the "UNpleasure" of her company for a few long months last year. Honestly, I really thought she was a lezbian for the longest time, (alot of people did) with her looks and all her actions, she's very bossy, and manly sometimes, but then was I enlightened with the truth about how she doesn't work but always had survival money, all these fancy horses and SPECIAL INVESTOR friends, so it became clear how she got her money, good old fashion prostitution of herself if you ask me. Favor for a favor. Like she said 1 time on her way to have a drink with a potential investor, "I'll do what I gotta do to make it happen."

Well her momma must be so proud!!

I am so glad our friendship died in its tracks so quickly, before things got out of control. I whitnessed her be so mean to her help, called them "Fu**ing Mexicans" behind their back, and Olivia her groom, was a gem to her. Whatever, her day will come. She WILL become someones "BIT**" in jail and then we can all sit back in relief knowing she's getting just what she deserves from her lesbian lover in a cell block..

I have never met Heather personally, but she was involved in "business" venture with a close friend of mine. She wrote bad checks, did not live up to her professional obligations, and intentionally (and I dare say maliciously) scammed several people out of thousands of dollars. I commend Marc for bringing her business ethics into question. I have watched my friend suffer, for years, repeatedly as a direct result of Heather's betrayal. She's obviously "good" at what she does because she has scammed several intelligent memebers of the equestrian community, people who did do their homework before investing. I'm glad that there is now more "homework" available for people who would potentially invest with Heather in the future. Hopefully this message board will allow others to not suffer the same devastation as my friend.

Yes, ha, and she's also been outed for listing Rampallo as being available for $75,000 when he was advertised elsewhere for $55,000.

My, she does like her mark-ups!

Oh, great! So now she's offering him up horses that, well, might not really be for sale? This one is even funnier: The picture of the horse Rampallo is straight off Diane Crump's website (http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=4&gl=us) where his price is $55,000 -- a cool $20,000 profit for her right there! -- and nowhere in the ad does it mention that he's from Germany.

Off to check on the others! This woman could teach the Nigerian scammers a thing or two!

Holy crap! Found another one!!
Brisant was advertised on Socalhunterjumpers.com for $25,000 -- not her quoted $40,000; not only that, but he's a pony!! http://www.socalhunterjumpers.com/li....php?a=2&b=131

Check the conformation shot in the ad; it's clearly the one linked to in the list.

There are many more to come out of the woodwork.
I had quite an ordeal with her myself.

Sadly, I seriously risked my reputation by trying to help her. I was conned. I thought, "Wow, I don't know what those people are talking about, she seems so nice and helpful". That, of course was in the beginning. What a manipulative bitch.

She misrepresented the ownership of the horses that I was interested in helping her sell. That is just the tip of the iceberg. After we had a falling out, I found out she had the nerve to use ME for a casual reference. Luckily the guy knew me so when I happened to call him a few weeks later he asked me what I thought about his doing business with her. Of course, he was just testing me.

I said, "honestly, don't walk -- RUN away!".
He replied with, "I really thought you couldn't possibly be friends with her, she's a really slime ball!"!

I also stabled next to her at a horse show.

She was very nice, but her name is on the "bad person" lists in the office of every major horse show, mostly for writing bad checks in VERY large amounts.

I heard *a lot* more about her scams from my trainer, but since it's technically hearsay I'll be good and not post it in on this BB

I can see she has not learned her lesson. I have had personal dealings with her and none of them good. She ran off with my horse for several months, unable to be located, didn't answer her phone, etc. Luckily, I tracked her down and got my horse back. I have posted my story several other times so I won't bore anyone with the details.

What gets me is she is NOT that smart, but she can fool the heck out of people with "money" talk. People love to hear big money in the horse show world. I had no dealings with her ever until someone suggested her (The person who suggested her, I trusted 100%). They said she could sell horses fast (I was hard up and looking for a way out)

Anyway. I understand what this person is going through. Also as far a USEF being notified about her Ammy status - I know personally that they were back in 2005. I have no dealings with the horse world anymore so I didn't keep up with anything (the taste in my mouth was very bad). I ride here and there now (cause I do love horses)- and really find that no one even really knows who she is. There are several VERY BNT that do and I sought help from them during my "episode".
<
I had to forward the article to my father as soon as I saw whom it was about. Even he will get a kick out of it. BEWARE OF HH, and that is no joke. I am surprised she has not served jail time yet.

I have met this girl before, and had friends that she cheated out of money among other things...
Will be interesting to see what happens...of course how many other people do similiar things in the horse world? Happens more then we probably know about

I am amazed that she has "survived" the horse world as long as she has. I know as 2005 she was no longer able to show at Lamplight anymore; in addition there are several other show grounds/companies, vets, farriers, etc. that go without pay (for years), she just skips town. And, still she continues to work 'it'. Several BBers have posted maybe that this Marc person should have known better, well actually maybe the horse industry should have known better. Because I can attest, it can happen to anyone of you/me without warning, without notice.

You think you covered all your bases and then before you know it - BAM! Horses gone, money gone, Heather gone. I can attest; it is not this Marc guys fault. As stated before, I am one of the lucky ones that got my horse from Heather. Spent close to $5000 in rehab costs (vet, farrier, 24 hour surveillance) and an airplane ticket; and had two attorneys. The funny thing is she was trying to sale my horse for $60,000.00; I was only asking $40,000.00, so not only is she jipping the seller (cause you may never see a penny or the horse ever again), she has jipped many buyers. Buyers may have paid $5000- $20000.00+ over asking price. And we as the horse industry eat it, because someone gets to talk big money, and pay big dollars – no matter what moral code was broken.

I also stated earlier, I know personally that in 2005 she was reported to USEF and then come to find out she is still in the business after 2 years.

Hope I don't come across as to angry, this is just a sore subject

this really makes me hate the horse world. all the scamming, wanting commissions just for making a phone call, adding on thousands to the horse's original price so A)owner gets screwed out of their money since its their horse and they pay a commision or B)horse doesn't sell due to all the add ons.

i think that the heather's of the world should be fully prosecuted for their actions. they get away with things like this because its too expensive to get a lawyer and take on the case because now you are pumping more money into filing a lawsuit and in the end you may not even be able to collect even if you get a judgement against the person. i think the heather's of the world rely on this fact. that many people will not bother to pursue legal action.

and while i think marc was stupid and naive and a bit reckless in pursuit of a high return on his investment, no one deserves to be treated like this. and for all those people who say that heather was doing what was expected in the industry, shame on you. thats what makes the industry look bad!!!! she should have made her investor properly aware of all the risks. and she defrauded him of his money on things like the vet check. that was a critical piece of fraud with dire consequences. the one horse has a big problem that could make his investment worth nothing! that is horrible!!!!!! and if she was on the up and up, then why was she being so cagey about revealing what customers were coming to look at the horses? because they weren't coming. this was another ploy to put marc off, giving her more time to keep the scam going.

i feel really badly for marc. because he naively got involved in something that will break his bank. yes it was stupid, but no one deserves to lose all that money like that. and people like heather do that to people like marc all the time and not just in the horse buying ventures. all types of scams are done to people all the time. and i think those types should be prosecuted thoroughly to prevent others from falling into the same trap. you hear all the time about poor little old ladies investing their life savings into something that is worthless. and by the time they find out, the scammer is long gone with the money.

i learned my lesson the hard way when i was 21. i graduated college and had leased out my unsuitable horse to someone and i wanted to ride. so i started looking at horses. found this woman. she took me in. slept over at her house, went out to bars with her daughter etc etc. then she offered me a horse for 3k. so i scrimped and saved and made payments to her for a horse named battle that i loved! when i made the final payment and asked for the bill of sale, she upped the price to 6.5k. and claimed i wanted the horse so badly i made up the price. that was not true. i had receipts for my payments, just stupidly never got a receipt for what the final cost of the horse was. i was 21! never encountere someone like her.

she was soooooooooooo nice. then i called the town and found out that i would need to stand in a very long line of creditors trying to collect from her. she had my money for 2 months and i had nothing. in the end she gave me another horse, one that i really didn't want, because her farm was being closed down. she gave away many other horses too. it was a hard lesson to learn. and yes i learned about the heathers of the world. fortunately for me i did not invest 150k and i also did end up with a horse that i kept for a long time. i really feel sorry for marc and i hope someone goes after heather and gets her for fraud!

I still have a hard time believing that people think it is ok for trainers/agents to just add on whatever they want as long as you get your asking price. They are acting as YOUR representative and should be acting in YOUR best interests, not their own. If you sell your house and tell your realtor you would like to get $100K, is it ok for them to sell it for $150K and keep the difference? That is ILLEGAL. How is it ANY different in the horse world?

This makes me absolutely irate. If I say I want $50K and my trainer can get me $70K, he/she should get me $70K. I own the horse, put in the money and time, and all he/she is doing is making a couple calls. So he/she should get $20K and I should get $50K just b/c he/she has more contacts? That is their job! $7K is pretty good for a few phone calls if you ask me. Man that just pisses me off. Why do you all think that is ok in any way shape or form??
